There are 3 basic installation types:

  • Stand alone
The Stand alone install is simply having all componets installed on one machine (usually a laptop) that does not interact with any other machine across the network.
  • Peer to peer network
The Peer-to-Peer network Configuration is when there are several computers or laptops connected through a network hub or switch with no real network access control or auditing. There is no dedicated server. One Machine must be designated as the management machine for the Opportunity Manager, any other machine can be designated as a client but most often it will be the Laptop for your sales force. All sections will be available to the management machine but only those areas that the sales staff needs, are available to the client.
  • Microsoft® Windows® NT/2000 Network
The NT Network will have a dedicated Windows NT4/2000 network Server to regulate and audit the access to the Network. It will also serve as the Opportunity Manager Intranet Server. This gives the maximum security and control over the application. The Server should also perform automated full backups regularly.
